Navino thinks positive after near-death experience
Dancehall deejay Navino caught up with THE STAR recently to share news about an accident he had been involved in during the summer that left him nursing injuries, and feeling distressed over a close friend, Jermaine Williams.
Speaking of 30-year-old Williams, Navino said: "Although I worried about his condition, I kept a positive outlook, knowing that my friend would have pulled through."
Williams, who is also a member of the deejay's promotions team, had been travelling with him following a performance in Mandeville on Saturday, July 8.
He sustained head injuries and was in a coma for months after the accident. He was discharged from hospital a couple of weeks ago to continue his recovery at home.
A thankful Navino shared that the accident, his first near-fatal experience, has inspired him to look at his faith and be more cautious of his surroundings.
"The accident happened not because any of the vehicles were speeding, but the oncoming vehicle was on the wrong side of the road. As people say, in some cases, ah accident is an accident and there is nothing that could have been done to prevent it," he said.
He added, "More importantly, I just draw closer to the Almighty, knowing that the work has to go on."
He advised other artistes to be mindful of their practices and to take a more professional approach to getting the job done so as to not cause harm to themselves and others.
Navino also discussed some new music that he used to keep his mind occupied during his friend's recovery.
A new single, A Nuh Luck, was released by the deejay and Stashment Records, to which he signed recently.
The deejay is hoping the track will hit the charts similarly to Spare One, produced by Markus Records on the Breakthrough rhythm, that was instrumental in his re-emergence on the dancehall scene earlier this year.
