Junior Reid says reparations, no vaccine
While some of his peers have remained mum when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine topic, singer Junior Reid declares his anti-vax stance in his new single Vaccination.
Produced by his JR Productions label, Reid chants that he'd much rather Rasta and Pan African reparations then vaccination.
"Why I decide to touch that topic is because I don't see how a virus fi come bout and dem find the cure fi it so fast and that is not even the cure because, if you even tek the vaccine, it still don't prevent you from getting COVID," Reid told THE STAR. "They say it can mek you survive the COVID more but I don't believe in that. I just believe in people eating right and just keeping dem immune system up because, based on the information I get on the COVID, it's just if your immune system weak or you have any chronic sickness it will take you out. But we nuh trust it."
Despite his beliefs, the One Blood hitmaker is not trying to dictate what choices people should make.
"We nah tell nobody don't take it, but mi know mi nah tek it," he said. "Mi send out a message that all of my fans and people weh believe inna me or believe inna weh we a say and know seh we on the same mission and a that we stand for, they will get the message."
He said that he has been receiving positive feedback for the song and accompanying music video.
"Any stage show or anywhere I go and I draw that one, the whole place mash up," he said. "It and my other two current songs, Milan with Fetty Wap and Jet Tek Off with my daughter Kimio Reid, are getting good responses. They fit well in my 'lionlogue' and it's doing good. You have sound system man even coming to me for dubplate on Vaccination and Jet Tek Off, so it's generating [a buzz] already."
