Days after their one-year wedding anniversary, entertainer Queenie Lady Gangsta is shutting down rumours of a split from spouse Dwayne 'Dowey' Scarlett.

Word started going around on the weekend when the Double Tap artiste went on Instagram to declare that anyone who wants Scarlett should take him, even using expletives to send him off. But speaking to THE STAR, she explained that her remarks were just her way of feeding the narrative of naysayers about her relationship.

"My husband is right here," she said when contacted yesterday. "Some people just like to come into my DMs and say horrible things. Dem private call mi, dem WhatsApp mi, so mi just have enough and post them fi mek everybody share it up. Since dem know more than me, mi just give them something fi talk."

She added that her husband, who is 20 years her junior, suggested that she stop posting content with him on her page because of the hate train.

"That makes sense because mi get so much threats, bad mind and grudge, so I'm just gonna do me and mek dem wonder waa gwaan. But by the grace of God, we are pulling through," she said. "Mi realise the jealously is turned up when dem see me and him and we likkle antics, the fun... . We just a tek weh all of that from them and concentrate on me and my page because dem nuh appreciate the love."

The situation comes after the couple returned from Jamaica where they celebrated their anniversary which coincides with Scarlett's birthday on March 20. Yesterday also marked the 32nd birthday of her late daughter Sunitha 'Rushel' Lamey, who passed away last October from complications related to womb cancer.

"I get emotional every now and then but because mi have so much support from families and mi 'Royal Crazies' dem, it's a balance... Mi have a positive mind so it help balance mi as well," said Queenie.

MUSIC CAREER

For 2022, she intends to resume her music career with a song dedicated to Lamey. She also plans to honour her daughter's wishes of expanding her brand as a social media figure. Queenie also shared that she believes all her trials and triumphs are leading up to Christendom.

"Mi know God a call mi soon and mi tell mi husband seh yuh know why God mek mi married? Fi go through the fire, clean up, and den mi a go give mi testimony. Mi a go sanctified, mi a go born again. But no one cannot lead me into the church; something has to happen. So mi have that faith and belief in that and know mi have that coming. I'm anointed and that is keeping me stronger," she said.
