As a Rastafarian woman, singer Kush I Krown believes her purpose is to uplift black people in her music, evident on her single ' The Highest Throne' which was released in February.

Produced by King Stereograph, Kush I Krown revealed that she wrote the song in 2014 as an ode to His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie. Born in Canada to Jamaican parents, she explained that the inspiration for the song came following a trip to Ethiopia.

"That was all bottled up for years I wanted to express that," she told THE STAR. "Living in Canada as a Rasta woman and independent person, someone that is about black unity and the betterment of black people, you can't stay in that place (Canada) too long. The trip was a nice getaway and at the time I was with child, so it was a beautiful journey. When I came back from Ethiopia, I said that is the perfect song."

She has no answers for why producers waited to release the song (which is on the Psalms of Dub rhythm), but believes the timing is divine. The up-and-coming artiste recently shot the music video and believes the song's "positive vibrations" will yield positive feedback.

"I expect the results to be very good 'cause a good thing mi a deal with. There's no confusion in the song and we a give reverence to the king and all who don't know about His Majesty, we give dem a little history in my own style ... . People say revival music kinda quiet down but you can still keep the fire without saying certain stuff. So we just a bring back dah remembrance deh," she said.

Given name Tiahara Thompson, Kush I Krown's affinity for music is innate as her father is a singer and her uncle is Little Bop from the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. She was always singing as a child and started writing songs at 17, later performing at events in her late 20s. She returned to Jamaica in 2016 to pursue her music career and released her official debut single, Strength of a Woman, in 2017.

"It's all been a learning experience with lots of campaigning, pushing the music, and recording back and forth between Jamaica and Canada," she said. "My music reach Africa now and Europe."

She intends to get a manager in the near future, and is working on her Omega LP for release this year, which will feature The Highest Throne.
