As she celebrates another trip around the sun this Friday, entertainer D'Angel reflected on one thing she has embraced this past year that she will continue to do in this new chapter.

"Just focusing on me more," she told THE WEEKEND STAR. "I've never stopped focusing on myself and what I need to achieve or accomplish, but I'm prioritising myself more and my family."

On that note, the I'm Blessed singer will be spending the day with her family and close friends at sea, in contrast to previous years where she had grand parties, some including fans and guest artistes.

"Today, I just want to be around people who love me the most: my family and close friends," she said. "In these times, you have to surround yourself with the real ones and the genuine people who really love you the most. We're just going to go out on a yacht which I've never done before for my birthday, but I just want to treat myself because I work very hard so we pulled out all the stops. I wanted that calm and serenity; I just want to feel free and relaxed... I just want pure energy for this year. Amidst the pandemic and everything with the whole lockdown, it was just a rough time and now the place open back so to me, this is the perfect thing to do for my birthday."

But she's not leaving fans out of the loop. As she has done in previous years, D'Angel will be going live on social media to spread the "fabulosity of it all".

"I want to try and go live so my fans can be a part of my celebration if I get good connection out at sea. Mi a go live some way, somehow, even when mi just reach. Even if mi nuh go live, I'll still be uploading and sharing."

Post her cake-day celebrations, it's back to her Exposed tour. The tour name mirrors that of her upcoming EP, slated for release this year. The title track was released in 2020 with visuals that have been seen more than five million times. She kickstarted the tour last October performing in cities including Houston, New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta. She returned from Nashville, Tennessee, a few days ago.

"It was great; my next stop will be in Los Angeles. I'm looking forward to performing for my fans and entertaining them. My fans can gear up for more shows and gear up to see me in different cities."
