Woman raped four times

Stung by a barbaric act of rape committed against one of their own, women in a western Jamaica community say they are now fearful of walking in their community.

A 33-year-old woman was dragged from the roadway by three brutes who took turns raping her. The incident occurred on December 29.

The woman, who had walked about a mile to the community's square in order to take a taxi, was pulled into a building under construction by a man who raped her.

Police reports said that after the dastardly act was committed, the woman made her way outside the building and went to the square in the hope that she would get a taxi. While there, a second man reportedly pulled her to his house, which was located a few chains away. He allegedly raped her twice. When he was finished, the woman again went to the square where a third man held on to her hand and pulled her to his house, which is also close by, and raped her.

Having made her way back to the square for a fourth time, the woman was lucky to get a taxi home. She told her common-law husband about the incidents and he took her to the police station where a report was made. The alleged rapists have not yet been captured.

Meanwhile, the late December incident reportedly came on the heels of an attempted rape in the community. On that occasion, the would-be victim fought off her attackers and escaped.

"A just wha day di dutty boy dem mek after mi daughter fi rape har, and is a good thing seh she a ruff girl an manage fi fight dem off," one woman told THE WEEKEND STAR. "A send mi send har go give a lady a bag, and wen mi listen mi hear she a run a come back inna di yard an tell mi an har father dat di boy dem try fi rape har. Di bwoy dem lucky so 'til, because wen mi and mi husband run go out deh wid wi machete, dem already run gone."
