Healer man murdered
The St Elizabeth police have commenced an investigation into the murder of a popular spiritual healer, who was shot and killed at his home in Denbigh Castle on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Bishop Jerome Hilton. Reports by the police are that about 8:30 p.m., Hilton and two male friends were at his home, when two men armed with handguns entered the premises and opened fire hitting Hilton multiple times, before they escaped in the area on foot.
Hilton's friends ran from the scene to avoid being shot, and later raised an alarm. The police were also summoned, and upon arrival, Hilton was rushed to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Hilton is said to have been a bishop at the New Testament Spiritual Church of God International Elohim True Faith. Following his killing, several residents in Denbigh Castle expressed shock at what they described to be a cold-hearted act.
"Bishop Hilton was a good man, and one who you could always go to with your problem," one female who said she is a church member told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Our church is not such of a large congregation, but we are true worshippers of God, and Bishop Hilton is always the one who is quick to help others, and he was also very thoughtful."
Other residents say they believe that the bishop could have been murdered by someone who he actually did some healing for.
"A nuff a di time mi hear people a complain seh dem check the bishop fi him spiritual healing, and most a di time dem complain seh it naw really work," one farmer said.
