Burnt victim identified after relative spots private part
A relative of a man who was reportedly murdered by gangsters aligned to the Clansman-One Dong Gang, yesterday recalled that residents were only able to identify him after spotting a piece of his penis as his body was burned beyond recognition.
Jermaine Bryan, 25, and Cedella Walder, 27, were reportedly peppered with bullets by the reputed One Don Gang leader Andre 'Blackman' Bryan and his bodyguard Tareek James on September 8, 2017, in New Nursery, Twickenham Park, St Catherine, before the board structure in which they lived was set ablaze. Their charred remains were found huddled together in the rubble, according to a crime scene investigator who was greeted with the stench of burnt flesh, similar to that of a burnt dog.
The couple was killed when armed men went to the community in the wee hours of the morning in search of a man called 'Bobo Spark' who was reportedly a top shooter for Tesha Miller, the reputed leader of the Clansman Gang, from which the One Don Gang emerged.
The relative, during her testimony yesterday in the Home Circuit Court, said that after the shooting had subsided and the fire had cooled down, she and others could barely recognise the victims' bodies.
"After dem draw wey piece a zinc mi see the two piece of sum'n dem. Mi never know if a body, everything burn off," she said. "The whole community come down. We look and den wi see a piece a penis and a so we know say a Jermaine."
A police witness had previously testified that when he went to the scene, police were able to conclude the victims' gender after detecting a breast and a penis. Earlier in the trial, a relative of Walder fought to keep her tears at bay and to maintain her composure as she spoke about her loved one. The witness, who was barely audible, further testified that she could not look at the body. The trial will continue today.
