William Knibb banks on national invitees
Casman Williams, coach of William Knibb Memorial High School in Trelawny, says the school is banking on McCoy Nish and Keven Clarke to boost its chances of advancing to the second round of the 2018 ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup.
William Knibb are currently second from the bottom in Zone C with five points from as many games. They trail Muschett by goal difference, Spot Valley (eight), Herbert Morrison (nine) and leaders Cedric Titus (twelve). Holland sit in sixth with only three points.
Nish and Clarke were invited to the national Under-15 set-up earlier this year, and is hoping that they will help the team navigate the remaining five matches in the first round.
"Both got invited to the national Under-15 under the national programme, so coming back, I took them one side and told them that they need to show the other players the level of professionalism and organisation that is at the national level," the coach said.
"We are also hoping they will be able to lift the team in terms of how they work on the field of play. McCoy Nish has been consistent in playing just about every game for the team so far and has been improving each game. Keven Clarke has been up and down, but I know what he has. He is a talented youngster and I think that with time, he will mature as the season goes on," said Williams.
