Pamputtae defends gospel song decision - Says she is ‘chosen’ to deliver it
Pamputtae's gospel debut has not been officially released, but is already attracting both criticism and praise.
The song, God On Time, is a collaboration with Minister Taneisha Shaw which the deejay has been teasing on social media since last week.
"A nuh me call her; she is a Christian and a she call me, so Pamputtae is chosen," the entertainer told THE STAR. "You have people out there a talk bout why Taneisha a Christian and choose to do the song with me and me nuh baptise. Some a say 'that a nuh gospel' and come with dem negativity... I just want people to know that whether you're baptised or you're unsaved, God bless all of us and Him love all of us. God nuh pick and choose who fi bless and all a we born inna sin."
Pamputtae said Shaw has been a long-time friend and they used go to the hottest dances before Shaw got baptised in 2014. She contacted producer Esco when Shaw reached out to do the record.
"Esco send me the rhythm mi just find the hook, ' tell dem nuh trouble we, cause God a cover we'... Mi send it to Taneisha and tell her a so it a start and she seh she love it and came to the studio fi lay down fi her part. It was so easy and Taneisha deliver so well and good fi her first time doing a song," said Pamputtae. They are working on the music video and hope to release it no later than next month.
"The song will go far because with Christ in the vessel, we shall smile at any and every storm," she said. "The song already a kick up a storm and it nuh release yet, so just imagine when it release and the video out? We nuh go certain place go do the promotion yet and people a call fi di song like whoa. God predict this long time, but we never know bout it because it wasn't the time. Now is the time." Pamputtae said she also intends to do more gospel music.
"Memba a music mi sing. I shall sing as long as I live and as long as I live, I shall sing. All when mi [reach] 100 mi a sing cause a God give me mi talent," she said.
